Did Meghan Markle’s Netflix Cooking Show at the Cannabis Farm Go up in Smoke?

If there is anything Meghan Markle loves more than charity, it is cooking a roast chicken for her people. The Duchess of Sussex has been quite upfront about her domestic goddess persona, quite contrary to the glamorous lifestyle people assume the former actress has. A typical day in her life always involves preparing the most delightful meals- likely plenty of chicken, considering her admiration for Ina Garten's recipes. And this passion has led the Duchess to tap into her food-influencing era with a cooking show for Netflix.

Even before the show could see the light of the day, however, it has been embroiled in controversy, leading to the question- has it been axed?

Meghan Markle should know by now that she could almost never reach somewhere without encountering a few hurdles on the road. And her in-progress Netflix cooking show's fate was no different. Recently, scrutiny shadowed her once again as the alleged location for the culinary show came to light: a contentious cannabis farm in California. However, a source recently cleared up the fog of rumors to Page Six, declaring, “The show is not filmed on or near any cannabis farm”.

The show is in fact, going to be filmed in a “private residence”. The inception of these rumors took root from a report by Daily Mail, suggesting that the backdrop for Markle's show would include two California locations, one of which is a farm owned by the cannabis-supplying Van Wingerden family in the nearby seaside city of Carpinteria. While the cooking show is still in progress, Markle has already managed to add flavor to others’ meals, regardless.

When it comes to promoting her brand, Meghan Markle often relies on her connections in Hollywood to spread the word. And she has been doing the very same thing to promote her delectable jams from American Riviera Orchard as well. The former actress has been sharing decorated baskets of jams with her friends, encouraging them to share their endorsements as well.

From her neighbor Tracy Robbins, and friend Nacho Figueras, to Garcelle Beauvais, Meghan Markle has a strong squad of supporters behind her who are constantly promoting the jams. While the fate of American Riviera Orchard already seems promising from its first product, only time will tell how the untitled Netflix cooking show, which has already been marred with controversy, will pan out.
