Brian Tyree Henry Set to Join Netflix’s 'Bass x Machina'

Over the years, Brian Tyree Henry has been part of one masterpiece project, earning nominations for the Academy Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and even the Primetime Emmys. From Joker to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and Bullet Train, his performances made an impact that is quite unforgettable. And to double down on the same, the actor has taken dual roles on Netflix.

The 2026 NAACP Image Awards nominee will have to deal with machines, supernatural threats, and strict laws in Netflix’s upcoming animated series Bass X Machina.

The Child's Play actor, Brian Tyree Henry, is all set to be both executive producer and star in the animated series Bass x Machina. It even has a release date now, with the series expected to drop on October 6, this year. Now, Henry is well known for bringing depth to the characters he plays, whether on stage or screen, and he is expected to do the same as a voice actor for the new show.

He will be joined by Janelle Monáe (Glory), Tati Gabrielle (Dana), Cree Summer (Ahni), Chaske Spencer (Lighthorse), Currie Graham (Rivenbark), and Starletta DuPois (Etta). Animated by South Korea’s Studio Mir, the story of Bass X Machina follows a steampunk West where supernatural dangers and machines run wild, and a father must protect his family while taking the law into his own hands. It is quite an intense premise that seems to have been trusted in the experienced hands of Henry.

After all, he is no stranger to animation or voice acting, having been part of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He also recently spoke about the project during a recent interview.

Brian Tyree Henry previously lent his voice to Jefferson Davis in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He returned to reprise the role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will be part of the next movie as well. In a conversation with Variety’s Marc Malkin, he spoke briefly about what to expect in the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

"We have to conclude it. It has to be concluded. Can you imagine if we were like, ‘That’s it. He’s in a portal and that’s it," he said.

The movie now has a release date set for June 18, 2027. Meanwhile, a live adaptation is already is talks. Until then, with a thrilling Netflix animated project in the roster, Brian Tyree Henry has quite a packed schedule this year.
