But with one door closed, opens a thousand ajar, and that is the case with the power couple’s kids, who may have lost their superstar godmother amid sinking alliances but found a close second in another A-lister, Salma Hayek. Hayek recently offered a glimpse into her close-knit bond with Lively and Reynolds’ children as tabloids sniff trouble in their starry paradise. 

While Swift pulled out every stop to ensure Lively and Reynolds’ children were part of her starry trails, Hayek makes one wonder whether the pop star’s godmother role is officially up for grabs.

In a recent conversation with E! News at the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party held on May 15, Salma Hayek shed light on her longtime friendship with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, before confessing, “I’m close to the kids.” Recalling a play date opportunity she enjoyed with the four kids, she continued, “They got to see the tía Salma.” While Hayek extolled the kids, she informed that Lively and Reynolds’ kids can also speak Spanish, her native tongue.

“Especially a little one,” Hayek noted meticulously. While Hayek’s timing may raise eyebrows, specifically because of the row in which Reynolds, Lively, and Taylor Swift are caught, indeed, the former’s alliance with the family goes way back. She worked with the Gossip Girl alum on Savages (2012) and co-starred with the Deadpool actor in The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021).

That said, this is not the first time Salma Hayek has raved about Blake Lively and her family.

While presenting Blake Lively with an award at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon in 2017, Salma Hayek seized the opportunity to mark the occasion with an incredible show of support for the actress. Hayek took center stage and admitted having never witnessed an actress like Lively, so full of courage, “sense of self,” and inspiration. She took a trip down memory lane into the early days of Lively’s career when she tackled the biggest Tinseltown bully on her own.

Hayek said, “she has a great sense of family,” before adding, “she is the ultimate mother—even to me.” Being a mother herself, that remark truly meant something for a fellow guardian angel. While Hayek’s history with the family is one etched in gold, the timing is nothing but purely coincidental. However, for a few eyebrows that were raised, this is a friendly reminder that this, too, shall pass
