Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is a documentary chronicling the British heavy metal band’s 50-year journey from 1975 East London pubs to worldwide stardom. Directed by Malcolm Venville, it is a tribute to the “uncompromising vision” and close bond with fans through animated Eddie sequences. 

The clip, which premiered via NME, features Eddie, who has appeared on the cover of every studio album the band has put out in some shape or form.

"It's hard for me to think of a more recognizable mascot or imagery associated with a hard rock band than Eddie and Iron Maiden," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said in a video clip released via NME. The musical documentary charts Iron Maiden’s enormous rise, a very slight fall and then yet more enormous rise, whose massive success was achieved with sheer talent. The film takes the audience through the changing line-ups, the departure of lead singer Paul Di’Anno, and the exit and then re-hiring of his replacement, Bruce Dickinson.

Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is set for a May 7, 2026 cinema release. The documentary was first revealed in February 2026 as part of Iron Maiden's 50th anniversary celebrations. It received its title, artwork, and plans for theatrical distribution from Universal Pictures International. 

The film is directed by Malcolm Venville and opens in cinemas worldwide with tickets going on sale in March. The release also outlines the band’s significant anniversary activities, including the 'Run for Your Lives' globe tour and other commemorative projects celebrating Iron Maiden’s five-decade heritage.
