‘The Michael Jackson Story’ Featuring Dionne Warwick and La Toya Jackson Achieves Rapid Multi-Market Expansion
In October 2025, BBC and Fremantle's 72 Films announced Legacy: Michael Jackson (working title at the time), a three-part documentary series that explores the rise, controversy, and lasting legacy of one of the most popular pop stars of all time. The docuseries was to be an attempt to portray Jackson as close to reality as possible. It was also supposed to be the most comprehensive and definitive attempt, a well-researched examination of a groundbreaking musical genius whose personal life is still a complicated mystery.
Now, the docuseries is ready to hit the screens under the title The Michael Jackson Story, and has recently been finding many takers in the international market.
Being an artist that left the world gasping first, with his performance, and then with his departure, Michael Jackson has sustained his relevancy long after, one that is being sought after left and right.

The Michael Jackson Story - a tale of ups and downs
The Michael Jackson Story seeks to paint an intricate and thorough picture of the pop icon, following his rise from kid genius to international celebrity and the accusations that clouded his career afterward. Producers at Fremantle describe it as a painstaking investigation that tackles both his creative brilliance and the grave allegations of child s***** abuse against him.
“It’s a complex tale of fame, family and legacy, exploring the extraordinary rise of the King of Pop and the controversies that surrounded him later in life,” stated Mark Reynolds, global head of documentaries and factual at Fremantle, said to Variety. He further added that the crew at 72 Films has handled this narrative with incredible care and intelligence, giving viewers a rare window into Jackson's life.
