Variety reports that during his appearance at the Royal Television Society conference in London, talk show host Graham Norton dismissed an intricate fan conspiracy theory regarding the production of Taylor Swift’s ‘Opalite’ music video, in which he makes a guest appearance. Norton described seeing a replica of his iconic red talk show sofa brought to life on the video set as a surreal, dream-come-true moment. 

However, he debunked a viral rumor claiming that Swift deliberately filmed the star-studded visual - featuring a cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cillian Murphy, and Lewis Capaldi - before orchestrating their actual couch appearances on his The Graham Norton Show. 

“The Swifties, they love a conspiracy theory,” Norton said about Swift’s obsessive fans. 

“So there were Swifties who thought we’d filmed the music video first and then orchestrated to get all the people on the sofa,” he added.

Broadcaster Tina Daheley, who conducted the on-stage interview with Norton, clarified that the concept was conceived spontaneously while the pop superstar was appearing as a guest on the program. Norton agreed, noting that viewers watching the clips can actually pinpoint the exact moment the idea appears to strike her, adding that it is quite extraordinary for the talk show to receive that level of recognition, as reported by Variety.

The music video had amazing chemistry between Swift and Gleeson, along with well-placed cameos from the rest of the guests from Norton’s talk show episode. 

Released this past February, the music video for 'Opalite' stars Taylor Swift and Domhnall Gleeson as a pair of romantic unfortunates who ultimately cross paths and participate in a dance competition, supported by cameos from Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cillian Murphy, and Lewis Capaldi. The visual's ensemble mirrors the star-studded lineup that joined Swift on the BBC talk show couch last October alongside guests like Graham Norton. 

During that recording, a lighthearted joke by Gleeson about featuring in a future music video sparked the concept, which Swift later described as having miraculously struck her imagination right there on live television. Recently, Swift released another music video, ‘Patient Zero,’ featuring herself along with Dakota Johnson and Collin Farrell.
