Working with besties is always fun to do. And Dakota Johnson's revelation of working on Taylor Swift's upcoming 'Patient Zero' music video just solidifies the same. Johnson is starring alongside Swift and Colin Farrell in the singer’s upcoming video, giving the longtime friends a chance to work together creatively for the first time.

While Swifties have been left guessing about the mysterious project, Johnson has offered a glimpse behind the scenes—and it sounds like working with her friend was every bit as enjoyable as fans might expect.

Dakota Johnson has been particularly enthusiastic about getting to work with Taylor Swift, whom she has known for years. Speaking at the red carpet premiere of her upcoming Verity, Johnson shared how it was just so fun to work alongside Swift.

“Working with your friends is like the most fun thing on the planet because we’ve known each other for so long, we respect each other’s creative minds," Johnson said. 

The same sentiment of the Verity red carpet was echoed by Johnson on the Ambar Lee and Leah Briars’ Fangirl Nation podcast, where she explained that their longstanding friendship made the collaboration feel completely natural.

“Normally I would say ‘Don’t work with your friends,’ but we work really well together. It was so fun. So fun. It was the best. We just had the best time,” she said on the podcast.

But while Johnson has given fans plenty to smile about behind the scenes, Swift has kept the actual Patient Zero story firmly under wraps.

While Dakota Johnson has been happy to praise the experience, Taylor Swift is keeping the actual story of 'Patient Zero' under wraps. The singer directed the video herself, with Johnson and Colin Farrell starring alongside her. Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, whose credits include Gravity, Birdman, and The Revenant, is behind the camera.

Swift offered fans their first glimpse on September 24, dropping a 13-second teaser featuring all three stars. The brief footage shows Swift and Johnson in several striking locations, including beside a bathroom sink, in water, and at what appears to be a gravesite, while Farrell also appears in the mysterious sequence.

'Patient Zero' is set to be released on September 25 as part of 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,' while the full music video will make its world premiere during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, where she will also receive the first-ever Artist-Director Award.

For now, Swifties have a 13-second puzzle to dissect—and Johnson and Farrell may be the only people who know exactly how the rest of the story unfolds.
