Some people build careers. Morgan Freeman seems to build entire biographies. Over six remarkable decades, the Academy Award winner has been everything from a United States Air Force radar technician and licensed pilot to one of Hollywood's highest-grossing actors. He has even opened Ground Zero, a blues club in Clarksdale, Mississippi, proving that his love for the genre extends far beyond simply listening. That title may soon be record producer, as Freeman sets out to collect America's greatest blues songs into a landmark album that has everyone curious about its release date.

Fans do not have long to wait before Morgan Freeman's musical passion project arrives. 'Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience' officially releases on August 7 through Decca Records, with Freeman serving as both producer and narrator. The 12-song collection, created alongside celebrated blues musicians, promises to guide listeners through a century of the genre's remarkable history.

"Rooted in stories carried from West Africa to the American South, the blues became a testament to the unbroken human spirit, the sound of America's past and present, and the heartbeat of a culture that refused to be forgotten," Freeman said in a statement. That mission shapes the album, which follows the blues from the Mississippi Delta while celebrating the artists who carried its legacy forward.

The countdown also comes with an impressive guest list. Freeman recruited blues heavyweights Taj Mahal, Keb' Mo', and Shemekia Copeland for the project. The record opens with Blind Willie Johnson's 'Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground' before revisiting classics including 'The Thrill Is Gone' and 'Traveling Riverside Blues', spanning generations of blues history.

As August 7 approaches, listeners have already received an early preview. To celebrate Juneteenth, Freeman released Taj Mahal's cinematic interpretation of Son House's 'Death Letter Blues'. The album concludes with 'I Lied to You' from Sinners, bringing the journey to a fitting close after the film helped introduce the blues to a new generation.
