Dylan O’Brien has all the praise for Taylor Swift after their work together on All Too Well: The Short Film. It feels like just yesterday that Swift released the short film, with the melody of “All Too Well” taking over the fandom. Five years later, the nostalgia surrounding the short film and its song remains as strong as ever. 

For O’Brien, the experience also came with plenty of fond memories. Looking back, O’Brien praised Swift while revealing one thing that he has learned from the "Cruel Summer" singer. 

Dylan O’Brien attended the premiere of Being Heumann at the Toronto International Film Festival. During a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the actor was asked what he learned from Taylor Swift while working with her on the film. He had plenty of praise for the way she handled the enormous responsibility of leading the project.

“Knowing what you want as a creative and being really communicative in collecting a team of people who, like, inspire you, and then kind of being able to give, like creative marching orders and steer the ship, but also letting everybody do what you like, hired them for. That was a really incredible way that she led,” he said.

The actor initially started his career by directing and starring in several YouTube short films that caught fans’ attention. He later transitioned to acting, taking on notable roles such as Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf, as well as parts in The Maze Runner and Twinless. While he has yet to direct a commercial feature, O’Brien could have the opportunity to put his early filmmaking experience as well as the lessons he learned while working Swift, to use if he eventually takes the director’s seat.

As of now, O’Brien is focused on his acting career and fascinating new projects such as the upcoming Being Heumann.

Dylan O’Brien is all set to star in the film Being Heumann, based on Judith Heumann’s memoir Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist. Directed by Sian Heder, the film explores the life and historic disability rights activism of Heumann.

Ruth Madeley will portray Judith Heumann, with Mark Ruffalo also joining the cast. O’Brien will appear as reporter Evan White, who embeds himself with Heumann and other disability rights activists during their protests. Following its premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, the film will be released theatrically on November 6, and on Apple Studios on November 13, 2026.
