Ever since the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film premiered in theaters in 2023, there has been an active demand for more such concert movies from fans of music and pop culture. With the exception of a few songs from the set list, the film condensed the 3.5-hour concert to a 2.75-hour cinematic experience. During its brief theatrical run, it made $267.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing concert film ever. It even got a streaming release with the title Taylor’s Version, with the previously omitted songs, on Disney+ in March 2024.

Now following in the footsteps is Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft concert film, landing on Paramount+ soon.

Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), the Grammy and Oscar-winning musician’s critically acclaimed concert film, will soon be available on small screens. The movie, which debuted in theaters in May, will be accessible for streaming on Paramount+ starting on August 6. The seemingly odd team of James Cameron and Eilish co-directed it and assisted in bringing the concert to the big screen in 3D. 

Since its May 8 theatrical premiere, the concert film has made $10 million in the US and Canada and $27 million globally. The project is Eilish's third concert film, shot on her sold-out headline tour. Two arenas - one in Phoenix, Arizona, and one in Manchester, England - were used to record the concerts.

Fans who want to stream the movie can do so with Paramount+, which starts at $8.99 per month for the Essential plan. Although a free trial is offered as part of a package with services like DirecTV or Walmart+, the streaming service does not offer one. A seven-day free trial of Paramount+ Premium, an add-on subscription to Prime Video, is also available to Amazon Prime members.

The concert film brings a unique experience for those who did not get to witness the live performance in its full glory.  

In collaboration with Meta Platforms and James Cameron's Lightstorm Vision, Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) made use of virtual reality 3D technology. The end product is a concert film that more closely resembles an event that viewers at home are actually present for. Live performances of songs from Eilish's catalog, such as 'Bad Guy, 'What Was I Made For?' from Greta Gerwig's Barbie, 'Happier Than Ever,' 'Birds of a Feather,' and 'When the Party's Over,' are featured in the film.

The collaboration between the singer and filmmaker may seem peculiar at first, but it is based on admiration, as suggested by James Cameron’s comments on the musician prior to the release of the concert film. This admiration will also be reflected in the film, which is due on Paramount on August 6.
