Ever since the news of Prince Harry's return to royal grounds for the Invictus Games' big ten broke, fans have been rooting for a royal reunion. Especially with the heartfelt calls from the monarchy, the prospect of it happening seemed increasingly likely. As the Duke of Sussex landed in London for the Invictus Games' 10th Anniversary, royal fans waited for their dream to come true.

This was his first time back in the country since Kate Middleton shared her cancer diagnosis in March. But even though fans were hoping for a family reunion this summer, it looks like they have hit their first obstacle already.

While a reunion with the Prince and Princess of Wales has felt out of reach for a while due to the strained relationship between the brothers, Prince Harry has been open about his wish to see his father. However, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex recently stated that it would not be possible either. "It, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme," the spokesperson told The Post. They also confirmed that the Duke understands his father's commitments and priorities and hopes to see him soon.

King Charles returned to public duties last week for the first time since his diagnosis of an unspecified form of cancer. Buckingham Palace stated that the king's schedule would be carefully managed to minimize any risks to his health. According to reports in The Telegraph, the King also has several other appointments and engagements scheduled for the remainder of the week. Does this suggest that the idea of a royal reconciliation is now off the table?

The Duke of Sussex appears to be determined to mend fences after a turbulent period that has seen him drifting further from the Royal family. While King Charles may be showing signs of softening towards his estranged family, Prince William reportedly has no intention of meeting his brother for one simple reason: betrayal. According to an alleged friend of Prince William who spoke to the Daily Beast, “William and Catherine felt completely betrayed by Harry's memoir”.

Their relationship continues to be severely fractured. According to another insider cited in the publication, despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reaching out to Kate Middleton with well-wishes after her cancer diagnosis, the brothers have not made any headway in resolving their tense relationship. William and Kate have accepted it and moved on”. With such circumstances, it is safe to say that Prince Harry still has a lengthy journey ahead if he hopes to reconnect with his roots in the royal family.
