‘The Witcher’ Debunks Any Claims of Cancellation as It Announces Season 5

If there is one show that has never ceased to amaze the audience, it is The Witcher. Much like the dark world that it is set up in, the series more often than not finds itself in troubled waters and somehow always perseveres. However, that is the beauty of the Lauren Hissrich fantasy series. Even before its premiere in 2019, the video game fandom had sent out a virtual army of sorts to make sure that the masterpiece created by Andrzej Sapkowski does not become a means for Netflix to bank off of video game adaptation until Henry Cavill convinced them otherwise.

The series will mark its four years anniversary later this year while also bidding farewell to its most trusted star, Henry Cavill. This news was once again met with the same reluctance. For many, The Witcher series without the British actor meant a house without a centerpiece. But the series still stands strong. It has even announced The Witcher Season 5 amidst discussions of its presumably dwindling relevance.

The show’s casting director, Sophie Holland, who also happens to be the treasure hunter who found Jenna Ortega, recently sat down in an interview with Deadline. Holland revealed in her exclusive that The Witcher Season 4 and Season 5 will have little to no time between their filming. “We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five,” Holland revealed to Deadline.
Holland’s statement has squashed with absolute fervor any claims of the fantasy series nearing its demise owing to the Man of Steel actor’s exit. While the news has managed to make some bounce off the walls, other have had dismissive reactions, to say the least.
Fans react to The Witcher Season 5 announcement
The creators and Henry Cavill himself are leaving no stone unturned to convince fans that Season 3 is going to be one for the books. However, fans need convincing of whether it is going to be FROM the books. A huge debate, and one that got intertwined with Cavill’s exit, is how the fantasy series have assaulted their creative freedom as they digress from the source material. But with the coming of Liam Hemsworth, there are a few who are willing to give the show another chance. Only if the writing of season 3 manages to convince.
Isn't filming effected by the writer's strike. I'm actually excited to see Liam's take on the character and I'd watch Joey and Anya in anything! But I don't want an unfinished product. The writing for this shiw is iffy enough.

I really want to like the show but the first two seasons haven't convinced me yet. I hope season 3 will change that!

The few, however, pale in comparison to those who were only convinced to watch the show because of Henry Cavill. And this made way for many jokes, especially as the fandom acted oblivious to the filming of a season 4 even with “Wait! I thought it ended at Season 3?”

While the tides may not be in favor as of now, it is highly possible that a nod from Henry Cavill and a quick reading of the book by Lauren Hissrich can prove wonders for The Witcher franchise. After all, it was Netflix’s #1 at one point in time.
