Jurassic Shadows arrived with a roar loud enough to shake Anime Expo, and the internet has not stopped talking since. A ninja and dinosaur showdown set in modern Tokyo sounds like something dreamed up on a dare, yet the creative team behind it treats the premise with complete seriousness. Between the visuals, the pedigree, and the mystery surrounding its future, one detail keeps everyone waiting. Where exactly will this story land?
While the trailer answers what the story looks like, the bigger mystery still circles overhead like a dinosaur waiting to strike, unnoticed.
Jurassic Shadows and the platform question

No platform has picked up Jurassic Shadows for now, though the reveal itself came loaded with detail. Avex Pictures uploaded the official project promotional video straight to YouTube, giving viewers a taste of ninjas and dinosaurs clashing across a reimagined Tokyo. Crunchyroll appears to be the likely destination eventually, given how quickly the platform covered the announcement, though nothing has been finalized. Netflix and HIDIVE also remain possibilities depending on how licensing plays out.
The story unfolds in Tokyo during 2029, where dinosaurs survive in secret by passing their DNA through generations of humans. A hidden order of ninjas counters the threat using Ryugesho, a memory-infused pigment that awakens ancient dinosaur abilities when applied. Kenta Ihara handles the screenplay, while Yukiko Nakatani manages character design, and Cannon Code brings the visuals to life. A manga adaptation from Kodansha is also being planned alongside the anime.
While that manga-and-anime pairing takes shape, an entire dinosaur lineup is already ready to watch on Netflix.
Netflix already holds plenty of dinosaurs to watch
Netflix currently hosts the full Jurassic World collection, including Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic World: Dominion, and the newer Jurassic World: Rebirth. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and its sequel series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory follow six teenagers and later the wider fallout of a world where dinosaurs roam free. Younger viewers can turn to animated options like Dinotrux, Gigantosaurus, and Bad Dinosaurs for lighter prehistoric fun. Availability shifts slightly by region, so a quick search inside the app helps confirm access.

Netflix also carries The Dinosaurs, a four-part documentary event executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman, blending real science with striking visual effects. Amblin Documentaries crafted the series using techniques from Life on Our Planet, offering a grounded companion piece to all the fictional chaos. Between the Jurassic World franchise, animated favorites, and this documentary, there is enough prehistoric content to comfortably fill the wait. Jurassic Shadows, however, still keeps its arrival date and platform firmly under wraps.
