One Piece still has many more stories to tell in the coming years, as creator Eiichiro Oda has explained. Earlier, the artist confirmed the existence of the One Piece treasure by writing down the secret on a piece of paper, tearing it in half, sealing part of it in a capsule, and throwing it into the ocean. But there are still several unanswered questions, not just about the One Piece treasure but about the larger mysteries surrounding the story.
Fortunately, the manga, which has continued alongside the live-action adaptation and other animated projects, has already entered its final saga with the Elbaf Arc. So, while the secret will eventually be revealed at the right time, fans may have to wait a few more years to get an answer.
The journey for Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece could take more years
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda confirmed during One Piece Day on August 23, 2026, that the manga will continue for at least four more years. Understandably, that time may be needed, considering there are still several major mysteries to explore, including the last Road Poneglyph, the Void Century, and many other unanswered questions. The bigger question, however, is whether Oda can actually wrap up the story within the four years he seemingly promised.

After all, Oda’s had initially planned for the manga to run for just five years following its debut in 1997. However, his vision for the story kept expanding, and One Piece has now been running for decades. The franchise has also grown beyond the manga, with a live-action adaptation and multiple animated projects as revealed at the One Piece Day. The anime is also getting a remake from WIT Studio, titled The One Piece, which will stream on Netflix.
Moreover, Oda has remained actively involved in several projects related to the franchise, including the live-action adaptation and the recent movie adaptation of the manga.
One Piece is getting 2 films
During the One Piece Day celebration, it was announced that One Piece will also have two theatrical releases in the coming years. The first film is One Piece Film: God Valley, which is set to premiere in Japan in 2027 to celebrate the manga’s 30th anniversary. The film will reportedly adapt the God Valley Incident flashback from the ongoing Elbaph Arc.

The next scheduled movie is One Piece Film: BAAD, which is set for a 2029 Japanese premiere to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the TV anime series. Creator Eiichiro Oda is reportedly more involved in this film than in any previous project and has even hand-drawn the movie’s title logo. It might be safe to say that the next few years will be an exciting ride for One Piece fans, whether they follow the manga, the anime, or both.
