Netflix’s 'The One Piece' Anime Confirms 2027 Release Date: Number Of Episodes, Release Schedule Explained

Netflix has confirmed that The One Piece will arrive in February 2027, marking the next major expansion of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running franchise. The WIT Studio project will launch with a compact first season, giving viewers a streamlined entry point into the East Blue saga while reimagining the story for a new generation of anime fans.

But the way this remake is structured could reshape how audiences experience Luffy’s journey from the very beginning.

The remake will open with seven episodes in its first season, all dropping on the same day instead of following a weekly rollout. That approach highlights Netflix’s push to position the series as a binge-ready event. With a runtime of roughly 300 minutes, the season promises a more condensed narrative compared to the original adaptation.

The story is expected to cover about 50 chapters of the manga, concluding around the moment Monkey D. Luffy meets Sanji at the Baratie restaurant. This provides a natural narrative pause while still including several defining early arcs. It also signals a deliberate move toward tighter pacing and clearer storytelling.

Rather than replacing One Piece, this version is designed as a refreshed interpretation of the opening saga. Backed by Netflix, the series aims to modernize visuals while preserving the tone and emotional core of Luffy’s early adventures.

At the same time, the franchise’s live action branch is preparing to tackle one of its most pivotal arcs yet.

The Alabasta arc raises the stakes

The live-action One Piece is moving toward the Alabasta storyline in its third season, titled The Battle of Alabasta. This arc places the Straw Hats in a kingdom facing collapse, with rising tensions shaped by civil unrest and a hidden conspiracy led by Crocodile and the Baroque Works organization.

The narrative follows Luffy and his crew as they support Princess Vivi in protecting her homeland. Alongside returning Straw Hats, the season will expand its world with several fan-favorite characters like Vivi, Cobra, and Ace, signaling a broader and more politically driven storyline. Production is already underway in Cape Town, reinforcing Netflix’s intent to treat this chapter as a major event.

For many fans, Alabasta represents a turning point where the series evolves into a deeper, more emotional story about loyalty, sacrifice and the fight to save an entire nation.
