'Kagurabachi' Anime Unveils Togo Shiba's First Look as Crunchyroll Secures Streaming Rights

Crunchyroll has made it big by acquiring one of the much-anticipated titles, Kagurabachi, while also unveiling the first look at the character Togo Shiba. The platform is one of the world's largest destinations for anime, manga, and animated films, boasting a library of more than 1,000 anime titles that continues to grow each year. Ever since Kagurabachi was announced for an anime adaptation, several streaming platforms were rumored to be in the race for its rights, including Netflix.
Unsurprisingly, Crunchyroll secured the highly anticipated anime TV series ahead of its release next year.
Crunchyroll shows first glimpse of Togo Shiba in Kagurabachi

As reported by Variety, Crunchyroll has secured the streaming rights to the highly anticipated anime series Kagurabachi. Alongside the announcement, the streamer also unveiled the first look at the character Togo Shiba. Moreover, it was also confirmed that Katsuyuki Konishi will join the Japanese voice cast and lend his voice to Togo Shiba in the upcoming series.
The acclaimed Japanese voice actor is best known for voicing Kamina in Gurren Lagann and Laxus Dreyar in Fairy Tail. Previously announced cast members include Taihi Kimura as Chihiro Rokuhira and Tomokazu Seki as Kunishige Rokuhira, as per Variety. The anime was first announced in April 2026 by animation studio Studio Cypic (previously CygamesPictures). While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, the series is expected to premiere in April 2027.

What is Kagurabachi about?
Kagurabachi is based on the hit Weekly Shonen Jump manga by Takeru Hokazono, which has gained a massive following since its debut. The story follows swordsman Chihiro Rokuhira as he sets out to avenge his father by hunting down a group of powerful sorcerers using a magical, enchanted katana. The anime adaptation is directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, while it features character designs by Keigo Sasaki and is animated by Cypic.

This is the same studio behind Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. Ahead of its premiere, the series will launch the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour Part 1, beginning with an early episode screening at Anime Expo before traveling to Japan Expo, AnimagiC, Otakon, and Anime NYC. With Crunchyroll having acquired the global streaming rights for the anime, it is the exclusive international streaming home for the series. Following its release, Kagurabachi will stream on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. Until then, fans can stream some of the best manga adaptations on Netflix.
