After getting its own video game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gets a new update which promises feature of a new rival to explore Goku's other side

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot to Feature New Rival, Video Game Gets a Revamp on Goku’s Main Focus

When we talk Anime, the focus generally remains on the character’s behavioral
arcs and intense fight scenes. But the treat always lies in seeing the
friendship and relationship between characters blossom. And with Dragon Ball Z,
it was Goku x Vegeta. Even non-viewers have heard of the duo of Goku and Vegeta.
While these two are tied to the hips when a bad thing arises, the two have a
bold competitive nature. When not required to be there for each other, they
would hold each other as their rivals.

Soon, the Japanese anime TV series had an interesting video game spin-off in
2018. They followed the same events, with extra side quests. But a new update
introduced a subtle switch in Goku’s main rival focus.

FROM GOKU X VEGETA TO GOKU X (?)

Goku followed a similar enemy-turned-tolerant trajectory with another character
named Piccolo. Piccolo turned his hate to kill Goku around after being humbled
in a fight with him. Soon they shared the same chemistry as Vegeta. Moreover,
Piccolo had a long history with Goku as his rival that old Dragon Ball fans know
of. Modern fans mostly know Piccolo as the teacher of Goku and Piccolo’s
tactical instructor, Gohan. The new DLC (downloadable content), as CBR reported,
[https://www.cbr.com/dbz-kakarot-new-dlc-announcement-highlights-cool-game-change/] from
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot fixed that.

The DLC introduced a new focus for Goku, holding truer to the older rivalry. The
video game featured a build-up for the first fight between the two central
pieces, before which Goku was seen talking to Gohan about Piccolo’s overpowering
powers. The first fight in the new DLC then features a mentally challenging
battle between Goku and the new focus of Piccolo.

Now that the DLC updates promised a greater focus on a new rivalry, the players
will get to taste more of their relationship.

PICCOLO AS A TEACHING GRACE

The new game has brought a bigger focus on the Goku-Piccolo arc. Not only are
players getting to play more of Piccolo than Vegeta, but they also see the
importance of the character in the original Dragon Ball come to life. As stated
earlier, the new DLC opens up with a fight scene between the two, which soon
branches out. The game uses this new character’s focus to teach players about
the ropes of the game.

Goku even considers Piccolo’s thoughts and insights as an anchor. Additionally,
the earthling’s origin is explored in depth. While both Piccolo and Goku have
alien origins, the game explores their identities as more earth-beings.
