Will There Be a ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Season 4? Does It Include Gojo vs Sukuna Fight?

The Culling Game Arc of Gege Akutami’s manga has just officially begun with the eagerly awaited Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 premiere. However, the buzz and hopes for Season 4 have skyrocketed already. While MAPPA takes its sweet little time, fan-made animations predicting a fourth season are raging like wildfire because not a single soul can wait.

Wondering what the anime's current progression and industry reports say about a potential Season 4 and more seasons to come?

Only a few shows have been able to farm as much hype as Jujutsu Kaisen has in the history of anime. With the first three seasons having a gap of two years in between each of them, the wait for a fourth season could likely last about the same. However, the show's animator, MAPPA, has not yet officially declared Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4.

Starting at Chapter 137-143 of Gege Akutami's manga, the third dark fantasy anime prepares for the colossal Culling Game Arc, which is a battle-royale style death tournament and includes a rescue mission for Megumi Fushiguro’s sister, Tsumiki Fushiguro. If it manages to cover the entire chapters 159 to 221 with its two-part release, the anime is likely to run for at least four seasons if not more.

However, there is no official confirmation on the total number of planned seasons so far. Following the ongoing Culling Game storyline, which seeks to protect Master Tengen from Kenjaku and help unseal Gojo Satoru from the prison realm, the stage could be set for the ultimate Shinjuku Showdown Arc, the final arc of the manga.

'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 3 Adapts Key Manga Arcs You Can’t Miss

So, which potential arcs and plotlines to expect in a hypothetical Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4?

Gojo vs Sukuna battle: Potential plot and key arcs Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 could likely adapt the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, which starts from Chapter 223 onwards and concludes with a grand confrontation between the main characters, such as Yuji Itadori, Fushiguro, etc., the strongest sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, and the King of Curses, Sukuna, in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

After the Culling Game Arc, the Shinjuku Showdown Arc (chapters 222–271) is the next big and final arc in the manga, where many of the overarching plot threads come to a resolution. Given that Season 3 covers the content up to chapter 221, where Gojo is unsealed, Season 4 would start right away with the epic fight between Sukuna and Gojo that ends in Chapter 236, wherein Gege Akutami shockingly relieves the fan-favorite Six Eyes of his mortal duties.

Industry experts and audience predictions are in consensus that the animation of the Shinjuku Showdown arc may need 20–25 episodes, equal to the length of the past seasons, depending on how MAPPA will divide the material and deal with the pacing. However, the fatal Gojo vs Sukuna fight is still almost light-years away from 2026, which means Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 might arrive in 2028 or 2029.

If the anime stays true to its past practices of covering a large segment of manga, then Season 4 or even a combined run of the potential Season 4 and 5 can bring justice to the source material, as well as the Modulo, perhaps. Though the fate of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 will entirely depend on the performance of the current season now streaming globally.
