Taylor Swift Trumps Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to Score Another Milestone

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are celebrated as the football titans. Despite their amiable rapport, they are often pitted against one another, not just in terms of who is a superior athlete, but also to assess their fanbase and legacy. While Ronaldo commands the throne as the Instagram king, with 625 million followers, Messi trails his rival by just over 100 million. Nevertheless, it appears that in a different realm altogether, Taylor Swift has effortlessly surpassed both celebrated icons, once again.

Swift recently replicated her accomplishment over two of the most followed figures, months after initially doing so.

Taylor Swift may lag behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in terms of social media following. However, as per a revelation from Swift’s fan page, Tan, she crossed both football megastars in being the most googled people worldwide in February 2024 per Glimpse. The songstress had 16,232,000 searches, compared to Ronaldo and Messi's 4,923,000 and 4,781,000 searches, respectively. This pattern also occurred last year, according to a report from El Diario.

Swift surpassed both Messi and Ronaldo in terms of Google search volumes. The pop star maintained an average of 46 points on Google Trends, reaching her peak popularity between July 9 and 15, 2023. In comparison, Messi averaged nine points in search volume, significantly lower than Swift's tally, while Ronaldo managed slightly better with 22 points. However, this is not Swift's only achievement this year; the singer is also about to break another record in a few weeks.

It is only the beginning of the year, and Taylor Swift is already making and breaking records left and right. Following the biggest concert of her career, she is now about to break another record on the streaming platform, Spotify, with the song 'Cruel Summer.' Swift featured the ‘Lover’ song during her record-breaking Eras Tour, and with a recent promotional push, it is on track to surpass 2 billion streams.

‘Cruel Summer' is just a stone's throw away from hitting the record on Spotify, with only 100 million streams left to go. It will become Taylor Swift's fastest song to reach this milestone, all in under four weeks. Last year, after breaking into Billboard’s Top 10 in July, the popular track became No. 1, marking Swift's 10th chart-topper on Billboard's Hot 100. Now with this recent record on Google, Swift has once again reaffirmed her status as a rising star.
