Aretuza, the school of magic of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, has often been one of the prime locations in the show. This place has played a key role in the life of Yennefer played by Anya Chalotra. In reality, no such place exists, and the creators used graphic magic over the Roque de Santo Domingo in Garafía to create it. It is a rocky islet looking over the northwestern shore of La Palma Island, Canary Islands, Spain.
The shots of Aretuza Hall where Yen showed her new body were filmed at the Kiscelli Museum in Óbuda, Hungary. Moreover, the hall of the Cintra was also set at Origo Studios on the outskirts of the city. However, Hungary was certainly not the only location where The Witcher spread its Continent. The team recorded some scenes in Austria at Burg Kreuzenstein and also at the demolished medieval fortress in Poland.
Where did the shooting of Season 2 take place?
The production of season 2 was quite challenging for the team because of the pandemic taking over the world. So the creators shot the entire season in the United Kingdom to save cast and crew members from the virus. North Yorkshire was a popular location, as it perfectly contributed to the medieval settings. Fountain Abbey and Gordale Scar served many scenes of the second installment.

It is the same place where Geralt found the fake Ciri. Also, the establishing scene of the Nilfgaardian Empire palace was actually a CGI image. It is assumed that the unique Šibenik Cathedral in Croatia inspired the castle. Moreover, they also came back to the UK to film scenes at Longcross Studios.
