Christmas might be two months away. But Netflix is already in the holiday spirit, brilliantly cashing in on the excitement with That Christmas, a delightful animated fantasy comedy set to brighten every screen in 2024. Produced by Locksmith Animation and animated by DNEG Animation, That Christmas serves as Simon Otto’s directional debut based on the trilogy of children’s books by Richard Curtis, The Empty Stocking, Snow Day, and That Christmas.
The Christmas flick stars the voices of Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, Bill Nighy, Lolly Adefope, Katherine Parkinson, Sindhu Vee, Rosie Cavaliero, India Brown, Zazie Hayhurst, Sienna Sayer, Jacek Wiśniewski, Guz Khan, Andy Nyman, and Paul Kaye, among others. That Christmas recently had its worldwide premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in the Southbank Centre on October 19. However, it is due to hit the streamer on December 4 to become the perfect addition to Netflix’s Christmas watch guide.
Although fans might need to wait till December to get the entire holiday feeling kicking in, Netflix served a preview just recently.

Netflix rolled out That Christmas trailer just hours ago, which shows Brian Cox’s Santa Claus coming to town. In the trailer, the Succession actor sports the standard Santa uniform as he sets out to deliver the presents to children on Christmas Eve. Although Christmas Eve is typically the busiest night of the year for Santa, Cox’s Santa experiences one unlike any other, with unexpected challenges.
That Christmas weaves together several interconnected stories about love and loneliness, family and friends, along with Santa Claus making a major blunder. To be more precise, the animated film expertly capitalizes on every festive emotion, whether good or bad. Although festive contents usually bring butterflies and good-feel, despite being an animated production, That Christmas highlights bigger realities.
