One episode into the late 90s madness of Stranger Things and it is clear that the show can do much more than a Netflix series. The sentiment only grew larger as the creators along with the cast continued to push boundaries of brilliance with each season. Now that the show is heading towards its end, there has been news of rejected spinoffs and other Hawkins and Upside Down-centered projects. While most of the projects seem to be lost in transit, one that has found the gate is ‘Stranger Things on Stage’.
‘Stranger Things on Stage,’ as evidenced by its name, is in a different lane from the Netflix series. The play commences at London’s Phoenix Theatre in mid-November. While it will have theatre actors starring in it, the play is based on the Duffer Brother’s original story. This is why, as the trailer for The First Shadow dropped, fans were greeted with more than just a simple insight into what the play will be.
As the Netflix show heads towards its finale, the creators have not been very kind with the updates. A major factor behind this is the Writers’ protest that the Duffer Brothers have indefinitely joined. As the future of the show remains unpredictable, fans are also brimming with questions about the history of Hawkins. More specifically, Jim Hopper and Joyce Maldonado. And the ‘Stranger Things on Stage’ creators hit the bull’s eye as they released the trailer of The First Shadow with the context that the answers to the future are hidden in the past.

The trailer starts by focusing on an old television as it plays a recap of the Netflix show. However, the television glitches to make way for a crucial message. “The beginning of the Stranger Things Story Might Hold The Key To What Comes Next,” the trailer reads.
While interpretations may defer, the most applauded one is that the “beginning” in question is the play, and “what comes next” is Season 5. And as they take in this information, fans are feeling a rollercoaster of emotions.
Stranger Things fans react to The First Shadow trailer
The show may be based in the United States, but the United Kingdom enjoys the most benefits when it comes to Stranger Things. From fan meetings to plays taking place exclusively at the heart of London, the United Kingdom is really a dream world for fans of the series. But despite the play taking place in London, there seems to be no dearth of attendees.

The crucial question that The First Shadow will have to answer, however, is: Why Hawkins? How is it that the town has become prone to every kind of Upside Down monster?

It is unlikely that the creators will directly link the finale and the prequel story, as many will not be able to attend the play. But Duffer Brothers have always been a bag of surprises.
