Making movie adaptations of anime has become the new success formula in Hollywood. Many actors also get an opportunity to cement and reprise their roles for sequels, especially ones with a continued plot. Just like Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds is also expected to voice the titular character for Detective Pikachu 2. But where does that leave lead actor Justice Smith?

The 27-year-old starred as one of the leads in the 2019 film. While Reynolds voiced Pikachu’s character, Smith played an actual character who teams along with the Pokémon to solve cases. Now, there have been discussions of a second part being in the process. Smith recently revealed his possible fate in the sequel.

Detective Pikachu was an interesting take and an absolute trip of nostalgia for fans of the Pokémon world. The news of a big-scale movie was as electrifying as Pikachu’s power, and it did not fail to entertain. Now, creating movies with multiple sequels helps garner a bigger fan base while benefiting the cast. But Justice Smith’s role in the upcoming project remains in the dark. As per Screenrant, he is not sure whether he will be a part of it, “I’ve heard rumors that they might be doing a second one”.

But The Voyeurs actor has got wind about the project being made and would be more than excited to reprise his role. As for other details on the project, Jonathan Krisel will be directing it, with Chris Galletta in charge of the screenplay. So far, they have made no other official confirmations about the casting or the movie’ release.

The son and the working partner, therefore, go on a journey full of action and twists to find Harry Goodman. In the end, they find him, and Smith’s character remains back in the city to team up with them.
