Fans Divided on The On-Screen Prince William and Kate Middleton of ‘The Crown’ Season 6

The Crown on Netflix has a penchant for making headlines. Be it for the moment from history that it chooses to recreate or how strikingly similar the cast looks to real members of the Royal family. It is through this brilliance that the series became an immediate global hit after its release in 2016. While the series remained the pride and joy of many for an extended period, the sentiments changed when its lead character, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away in real life. Many protested against The Crown season 6, even though it was declared as the finale.
As England heads towards a new reign with King Charles as the ruler, The Crown‘s final season will serve as a tribute and possibly a lesson as it will cover her reign from the late 90s to the early 00s, meaning that we get to see Prince William and Kate Middleton fall in love. The streaming giant released the first look of the Waleses in the show, and the audience is divided in their opinions.

The final season of the renowned Netflix series will shed life on Prince William’s life in St. Andrews where he met Kate Middleton. Netflix shared a solo picture of Prince William sitting on a couch in a suit, a closeup shot of Kate Middleton, and a version of one of the earliest public spotting of the Waleses together. And they have done it again. The Crown’s casting directors need a raise because once again there is little to no difference between the reel-life actors and real-life people. Especially for Prince William.

Fans who saw the images are in awe of the impeccable casting of the Kate Middleton and Prince William. They feel the actor has a strong resemblance with the younger days of the Prince of Wales. One fan loves the casting so much that they are willing to watch the show just for this reason.

I haven’t started this show yet but the casting alone makes me want to

Omg! He looks like just the picture of William that we all swooned over before we found out how who he really is

On the flipside, however, some fans are calling out one aspect of the actor that doesn’t match the real-life prince: the hair. Prince William is known for his bald head and Ed McVey (the actor who plays him) having a thick bush of hair doesn’t sit well with the fans.

It’s been a lonnnnng time since he had that much hair!

Wasn't Prince William already bald when he met Kate Middleton?

Meanwhile, a group of fans are unhappy that season 6 would be the last season of the show. They are of the opinion that the show should close with Queen Elizabeth II’s death, given how the show focused on her reign.
I wish you guys would finish The Crown with the Queen's death.. that would've been a perfect way to end this.
It began with the beginning of her reign and should've ended with her ending.
But this is just my personal opinion ❤️— Arna Ringsted 🇮🇸 (@arnarut94) April 27, 2023
The Crown should really end with Elizabeth’s death.

Last season? I need this show to go up to present day culminating in Lil Nas X performing at the coronation of the new king of England.

Yay! My favorite show. Can't wait.🥺

Meanwhile, some fans expressed their excitement for the final season.
While fans are divided about the casting, the actors playing the Waleses were carefully chosen by the show creators.

The streaming giant let fans in on the actors who will be taking up significant roles in the coming season. Given how it is set up in the era when Prince William was thriving in the looks department, the series has picked an actor with boyish features to take on the role. Last September, Deadline reported the series having found its cast for the Waleses and shared the images of the same in its report.

The Crown found newcomers for the prince and princess. The show saw Prince William in Ed McVey and he does not seem to have any prior work on his resume. Whereas Meg Bellamy, who plays Kate Middleton, the actor apart from maintaining an Instagram presence, has also worked in The Prince of Savile Row. If the two actors manage to bring the same finesse to their roles as the past actors did, then the sky is the limit for them.
