It has been a few weeks since Henry Cavill’s run as the Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher came to an end. Irrespective of how bad of an impact it had on the series, the show must go on. Now that the fans are coming to terms with the fact that the British actor is leaving, all eyes are on Liam Hemsworth to make his debut in season 4. After an incredible third season concluded, fans are eager to see how creators take the story forward. Much to their delight, it seems like preparations are already underway.

While there is some time till season 4 of The Witcher graces the screens, the show’s fan site recently shared the ongoing developments from behind the scenes. 

The latest development surrounding The Witcher Season 4

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s protest have surely shaken Hollywood to its roots. Multiple projects have been delayed amidst the strike. While The Witcher is no exception, there still seems to be some work being done on it. Reports by the show’s fan site, Redanian Intelligence, confirmed the same. While the show is far from its pre-production, some smaller-scale activities are still on. However, the reports did not reveal the exact work being performed.

Owing to the ongoing protest, there are no developments in the acting or the writing field. For now, the show’s filming is likely to start in July 2024. In addition to that, some exciting new faces apart from Hemsworth would join the show. Apparently, South African actor Sharlto Copley is one of the latest additions to the series and he will play bounty hunter Leo Bonhart in the upcoming season.

Interestingly, while there is some hype surrounding Hemsworth’s debut, Geralt would probably not be the focus in the upcoming season. 

If not Geralt, who will be the key character in season 4?

Throughout the past three seasons, the Netflix fantasy show has been following the story of Geralt. Arguably the most crucial character in the series, Geralt, has always been the main character. However, following the end of season 3, fans might witness a shift of focus from Geralt to Ciri. While it is undoubtedly a surprise for the audience, the previous season did give a hint about how prominent Freya Allan is to the storyline.

Apparently, the upcoming season would follow up on the mystical abilities that the character possesses. The transition could be a great way to fix the hole caused by Cavill’s departure and help Hemsworth’s debut feel more natural than rushed.
