“A mediocre music video”- The Internet Hilariously Celebrates Taylor Swift’s Oscar Snub With ‘All Too Well’s Absence From the Shortlists for 2023

Taylor Swift recently shared a behind-the-scenes video of her short film All Too Well, released last year. Featuring the breakout star of Stranger Things Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien, this 15-minute video followed a young woman’s relationship. This was the first time the pop star directed a short film based on her song of the same name.

The romantic drama enjoyed critical acclaim and amassed 32 million views in its first three days of YouTube release. It garnered several awards, including Video of the Year and Best Direction at the 2022 Video Music Awards. However, the video failed to secure a place at the Oscar 2023 and it seems that the fans have no problem with it.

It would be disturbing news for the Grammy winner who made huge efforts for campaigning this short film. Despite the huge appreciation, this video got from fans, many think that it didn’t deserve an Oscar nomination. Twitter users have expressed their views and agreed with the decision of the Academy as comments on the post. The point of contention is that All Too Well: Short Film is indeed not a film but merely an extended music video and didn’t deserve a nomination as such.
One user stated: “Good. A mediocre music video, is not deserving of an Oscar nomination.”
“Can’t be snubbed if it wasn’t deserving of a nom to begin with,” commented second user.
“Good the spot belongs to a smaller director who needs to break through the industry and actually makes films,” posted another user.

It was EXCLUDED not snubbed. It was excluded not because it's not a short film, but because it was mediocre and not memorable aside from being campaigned left and right. It was made intended to be a Music Video, not a live-action short film. Taylor just wants attention.
