Killer Mike is a name that swept the rap categories in a blink at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. One might even assume Killer Mike’s day to be going on well enough after grabbing 3 back-to-back wins, including the trophy for the Rap Album of the Year category. However, the same is far from true. Shortly after accepting the honoraries of the evening, the rapper was arrested from the Crypto.com Arena. The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner first reported the nail-biting news.

Soon enough, videos and clips of the rapper being escorted away by the police officers also surged in. Although the exact reason behind the action is still classified, Gardner recorded an official statement. The official supposedly has stated it was “a misdemeanor” while further clearing out that it has “nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena.”. While that lifts out the fog a little, the entire information requires yet an update.

A representative of Killer Mike by the name of Michael Render did not respond immediately upon allegedly being requested to comment. Furthermore, his team at the Grammys also reportedly refused to shed any light on the issue after The Hollywood Reporter approached them. 

As a result, not much has been out to the public regarding the backstory of this detention by the LAPD. Since nothing can be done about being in the dark regarding the issue, let’s rewind the timeline back to when the rapper made history with 3 consecutive wins.

Killer Mike takes home 3 Grammys

Killer Mike may not be having the best day despite his winning streak, but he surely did hand an upset to Travis Scott by bagging the Best Rap Album category for ‘Michael’. Not only that, but the rapper also won Best Rap Performance and Rap Song for ‘Scientists & Engineers’. The single features Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.

Even though the next moments of his win were surely not as celebratory, reports suggest that this is Killer Mike’s first Grammy win in 2 decades.
