Noah Lyles Name Drops Ye, Voicing His Love and Concern for the Rapper In a Candid Talk
Ye, aka Kanye West, could easily have his own Eras Tour by now. From his humble beginnings as a burgeoning artist from Chicago to his over-the-top reinvention in the industry, the rapper’s journey can be broadly divided into two eras- the old Ye and the new Ye. But there are plenty of sub-phases in between, including his Christianity era when his music took a dive into psychedelic and gospel influences. Noah Lyles recently weighed in on this controversial yet interesting side of Ye.
Lyles not only stood up for Ye but also named his favorite track from one of the rapper's religion-heavy music collection.

Ye has had a complicated relationship with religion and Jesus. There is a perception that it was only with his ninth studio album, 'Jesus is King', that Ye really blended his music with Christianity. But the real ones know that gospel and Christian themes have been part of his music since 'Jesus Walks'- a track from his debut album, 'College Dropout' (2004). Recently, Noah Lyles, in an interview with Mixed Feelings, mentioned that 'Jesus Walks' is a track that makes him “feel understood.”
“I connect to that very much because I've definitely been guided by God,” said Lyles. He also called out the mainstream media for making the song a taboo topic. "Anytime you talk about it, everybody gets turned off,” added the Olympic champion. Ye has been famous not only for his music but for his polarizing personality and conviction. However, fans always had a hard time digesting his ‘Christian Era’. That should not be a problem anymore since, it seems, he has moved miles away from his 'Jesus is King' and 'Donda' days.
Earlier this year, with the release of 'Vultures', Ye dropped a surprising update on his current equation with religion and Christianity.

Back in April, Ye shared some more controversial views on his faith. In an interview with HYPERBEAST Issue 33, Ye was asked about his connection to faith. Quoting Michael Jackson, the 'Graduation' rapper said, "I'm looking at the man in the mirror." This comment came right after the surprise of him exploring the unchartered territory of adult films.
In February, Ye announced his adult entertainment studio with a brief six-second clip on X. After that, he disappeared from all platforms and also deactivated his Instagram, again. This led people to wonder if Ye was stepping into a new era. Nonetheless, despite the backlash, there are always fans like Noah Lyles who still appreciate the rapper’s provocative artistic ventures.
