Directors of the Kanye West Documentary, Who Made $30 Million from It, Get Sued for $30K by a Woman

The Kanye West documentary directors are getting sued by a woman. Jeen–yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy became one of the biggest critically acclaimed documentaries of 2022. It highlighted the life and work of the entertainer throughout the years. The show certainly gained a massive audience, highlighting every person in it. But while people usually enjoy the fame, one woman is apparently upset over her appearance in the video.

The documentary included some of his sit songs from past years. Cynthia Love was also a part of it. But she is now suing directors, Coodie Simmons, and Chike Ozah, for $30k in damages. Legal documents have revealed the reason why she chose to take such an action.
Why are the Jeen-Yuhs directors being sued?

It is common in Hollywood to get sued over a project by an upset member. In the case of Jeen-Yuhs, Cynthia Love has filed a suitcase against the documentary directors. According to TMZ, the court papers attained state that Love was in the rapper’s ‘Through the Wire’ song. But they showed an extended version of the clip in the documentary. This was done without permission and caused public embarrassment as well as mental disturbance to her. She claimed that the directors never bothered to talk to her.
The clip that was shot years ago showed her being drunk and dancing in a restaurant. Since then, she has maintained sobriety for 18 years. The woman turned her life around by getting a job and staying close to her family. But because the documentary became famous, everyone around her now knows of her old embarrassing moment. Apparently, the directors messaged her brother, stating they thought she was dead. It has caused her severe mental stress and Cynthia Love wants compensation for it.

While the directors earned $30 million from the docuseries, the woman is now seeking $30k in compensation.

The Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy was released on Netflix back in 2022. It covered Ye’s journey from being a producer to a rapper. His ‘Through the Wire’ song remained important to the story. The entertainer was in the hospital with his mouth sewn shut when he decided to rap this song. It showed his passion and consistency for rapping, ultimately leading to his massive success. Now the BBC is making another documentary about Ye.
