The Suits era is nowhere near an end. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, certainly has a whirlwind of controversies swirling around her. However, all of it has come to a standstill with her decade-old paralegal show experiencing a popularity bloom. With the tremendous success of the show years after it drew the curtains, writer Aaron Korsh is currently at the helm navigating through a myriad of topics. In an interview, he rightfully used his flourishing platform to weigh in on the Writers’ pay regarding the Writers’ Guild Association Strike. 

According to an exclusive publication issued by the Hollywood Reporter, the writer revealed that each episode of Suits is worth approximately $70,000 in residuals. The numbers, in fact, have nowhere “finished growing”. Nonetheless, the same show, if written for a streamer like Netflix, “I think the number would be under 10,000” said Korsh of the writers’ pay. And it would “probably never grow much above that” he added.

Hence, he expresses his staunch support for the strike, saying, “I’m 1000 percent supportive of my guild”. Speaking of the demands of the writers, Korsh added, “There needs to be an overhaul to the way writers are compensated”. The reason behind being the residuals when the writers write for streamers “are vanishing”. Comparing with just one episode of Everyone Loves Raymond, which he wrote about 20 years down the lane, the writer admitted that he made about $90,000 from it alone.

Aaron Korsh is content with Suits success without a streamer

There are always two sides to a coin. When Netflix acquired the streaming rights for Suits, Aaron Korsh could not be more grateful for the amount of exposure that they have received ever since. However, what also strikes his mind is that had it been just a streamer original, they would have made much less than what they have now. Once again drawing parallels with Everyone Loves Raymond, he said, “ I think Suits us much closer to that” than any show made for a streamer. 

Nonetheless, with the massive resurgence through the American streaming giant, Aaron Korsh clearly admits that he is a profit participant. “And I don’t think anyone needs to lose one second of sleep over how much money I’m making from Suits,” Korsh lastly concluded, with a hilarious cackle.
