Ryan Reynolds started his career back in the 90s, starring in all kinds of drama, comedy, and animated films. But the biggest commercial success of his career came with Deadpool. This iconic Merc with a Mouth character movie has been a comedic heaven since the movie franchise started in 2016. The witty and honest deliveries with the NSFW kind of humor setting are definitely a side-eye and smirk-worthy comedy. And Wade Wilson’s character only adds a cherry on top.

While Ryan Reynolds starred in this PG-13 movie for two parts, the third one will be a little more explicit. The unique approach to a superhero film has since made it a hit among the fans and thus landed it at a sweet spot in the 50 greatest superhero films of all time.

Wade Wilson first appeared as his character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he was not as vibrant as we are used to now. And when it got its own movie franchise, with two standalone films, the superhero gained a considerable amount of fan-following. And in a recent list of 50 greatest superhero movies of all time by Rolling Stones, Deadpool landed on the 23rd spot. The famous assassin-for-hire strike the cord right with his fans and became a Reynolds favorite.

The edgy take at a superhero film, where the hero himself is not as serious and grim, gave the movie a fresh perspective when it came to the superhero genre. Tim Miller, who had his feature directorial debut with this film, brought out the first film in 2016. But the developments for the movie had started long before X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2004. Miller came on board in 2011, and filming started in 2014. This movie is the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, definitely deserving a spot on the list.
