Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney snapped up the Wrexham AFC league in the year 2020, and since then, their success trajectory has only gone upwards. Even when the league was up against the wall, its fans and the Hollywood duo helped them keep their winning spirits alive. Despite the economic crisis of Wrexham FC, the duo managed to make the team “the talk of the town” and helped them promote to the National League.

Wrexham played exceptionally well in the last season and planted seeds of hope in the hearts of all the Wrexham fans. And while their match against MK Dons ended in a 3-5 loss for the Welsh team, it is far from where it was before the actors’ takeover. Wrexham, before the start of this new season, played a warm-up match against a Manchester United team and delivered the goods. Also, their game during the pre-season tour added up to the hype and made fans hopeful. Aside from their consistent performance, and support from the Deadpool and Latter Days actors, they are also bringing in exceptional players for the team, which further enhances Wrexham’s chances to get another promotion. 

According to Daily Mail, they signed players like Elliot Lee and Tom O’Connor who were on a roll in the last season and also got hold of the senior players- Will Boyle and James McClean. The team is constantly on the lookout for other promising players, with the help of its coach Parkinson. So, while the team lost against MK Dons in their first League Two match in years, the chances of their ultimate victory are still high.

However, there is a catch. Despite building a powerful squad, the injury of the team’s star player can be a major setback for the league.

During a match against Manchester United, Paul Mullin had a mishap and got severely injured. His condition is reportedly critical, as he is prohibited from traveling back home. This can be a hitch in the league’s plans for getting a promotion, as the star player would need several weeks to recover before playing again.

Mullin has significantly contributed to the teams’ success, securing 47 goals last season. Hence, there is no doubt that he is truly a gem for Wrexham, and his injury was a major setback for the team. However, coach Parkinson is confident that their strong squad would compensate for this loss, and they are still expecting another promotion.

How the coach’s confidences hold true will be seen in Wrexham’s next match in the league, against Wigan Athletic on August 9th.
