As Meghan Markle returns to the USA to re-establish her career in the entertainment industry, we have a look back at how she celebrated the country’s freedom. The Duchess is known for being outspoken about feminism and equal rights. An issue that is said to have added to the difference song between her and the Royal members. One look at the past show how her opinions are not new.
Like every other country, America also celebrates its Independence Day, i.e., the 4th of July with great enthusiasm. Celebrities take to social media to wish and participate in the event. But a podcast from 2014 displayed how Markle had her own way of doing it.

The Suits actress whose Spotify podcast recently ended had another blog back in 2014. According to Express, she had a blog called The Tig wherein she would discuss social issues, personal experiences, and empowerment. So when it came to celebrating Independence Day, the actress suggested to her followers to “Raise a glass to yourself.” While the typical Americans burst crackers, have parties, and dress up, Markle suggested that the country had a lot to do ahead.

As per her, people should cheer for themselves on the day and ahead of it. She wanted everyone to have better education, opportunities, and rights as they celebrated themselves. As a feminist herself, she quoted writer and fellow feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to show how society needs to go for equality rights.
Even today we see her speak of the same right, as she discussed them with her female guests for her Spotify podcast.

Meghan Markle may have been the ‘suitcase girl’ on Deal or No Deal, but she always held a tough option on female rights. An interview from her childhood shows her protesting against a dishwashing advertisement that was deemed to be sexist.

There were also reports of some of Prince Harry’s friends not liking her, as she called them out for sexist jokes. On the work front, her activism helped her gain the position of UN advocate for female rights and opportunities, especially in political and leadership roles.
