Quite recently, before the Birmingham state visit, the Prince of Wales took to his Instagram to raise his voice for a noble cause of society. Expressing his support for ITV’s third annual No Butts Campaign, Prince William posted a selfie-style video for his audience on social media. Renowned personality, Dame Deborah James used to lead the campaign for the past couple of years.

Unfortunately, James washed her hands off her life last June while fighting a fatal disease. He had been battling bowel cancer for the last six years. Expressing his heartfelt condolences to her friends and family, the Prince joined Lorraine Kelly. After James’ demise, Kelly has been leading the campaign in honor of her late friend. The Prince extended his support to launch this year’s, i.e. the third year of the #NoButts movement. It is the term used for kick-starting the bowel cancer awareness program of 2023.

The Prince of Wales began the video by thanking Kelly for the efforts she has put to raise awareness for the deadly disease. He beamed with pride as he remarked that Dame Deborah James would be proud of how the team did its very best to keep her legacy alive. The Prince also recalled some moments he spent with the journalist, James, at her home. The Prince, for his part, presented her with her Damehood on behalf of the former monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Calling all of us to contribute to a greater cause, the Prince remarked how around 50,000 people in the UK get diagnosed with the disease each year. Half of them suffered due to negligence or unawareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer. “So if you’re watching this, please take a second to listen and learn about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer. It could save your life,” said the Prince before concluding.
