King Charles III’s former cook, Jameson Stocks, has criticised Meghan Markle’s expanding lifestyle brand As Ever, accusing her of using the royal family as “a marketing tactic” to boost sales. Speaking to the Daily Express following the launch of the Duchess of Sussex’s festive collection featuring wine, candles, spreads, and more, Stocks argued that she is “exploiting" everyday people while promoting products that largely appeal to the wealthy.

According to the Daily Express, Stocks further stated that Meghan Markle’s luxury offerings reveal how far her brand has drifted from the public she once claimed to represent. He remarked that most consumers, struggling with everyday expenses, would likely skip a costly Meghan Markle-branded bottle of wine set to sell between USD 35 to USD 89, as well as USD 49 jars of honey and USD 25 spice kits. Stocks notably did not just share his viewpoint on Meghan Markle’s money-making tactic; he also discussed how Prince William and Kate Middleton supposedly feel about it.

When asked by the Daily Express how Prince William and Princess Kate might view Meghan Markle’s luxury holiday collection, Jameson Stocks did not hold back. The former royal chef said no family would appreciate someone profiting from their name, suggesting Markle’s business relies too heavily on royal ties. Stocks also remarked that the late Queen Elizabeth II would likely have disapproved, believing Markle’s approach takes advantage of ordinary people while using the royal image to sell products.
