Prince Harry and Meghan Markle built for themselves a tower of multi-million dollar projects after leaving the royal family. Now that is not a bad look. However, this extravagant tower was mostly built on the now-California residents belittling the royal family after leaving it. But given how the British monarchs have always maintained a stiff upper lip, the audience and even big leagues such as Spotify and Netflix entertained this.
It is when the couple failed to deliver even the bare minimum that their tower started showing cracks. The first crack from Spotify itself proved lethal, as the couple is currently struggling to secure more deals and hold on to its previous ones.

With only twelve episodes over the span of a year and Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization, Bill Simmons’ “gritters” claims, the Spotify deal was not smoothly called off as the Archetypes spokesperson claimed. The scathing allegations and the evidence present in the scarce number of episodes turned the pre-existing whispers in the industry into outright defiance to sign the couple. And as per Royal Biographer Tom Brower’s statements to Mirror, their “joint ventures are falling apart“.

This attack stemming from word of mouth is not anything the Sussexes are unaware of. In fact, Brower believes that after the Spotify fall-off “they’re beginning to taste the medicine that they handed out after the Oprah interview“.
Unlike the Royals, who have proudly maintained a ‘don’t complain, don’t explain’ policy, the Sussexes have been loose-mouthed one too many times to stay afloat. This is clear as Dior quickly squashed any rumors of joining hands with the Duchess of Sussex. And it is also true for the Archetypes owner as a brand.
Is the Sussex brand permanently impaired?

Following Spotify, there were talks of Netflix also washing their hands off the couple. However, it is quite difficult to let go of a couple that can bring 81.6 million views in four days by just reminiscing and sharing photos of their past. While the Harry & Meghan docuseries may have done so, the Duke’s upcoming show may not enjoy the same popularity.

Since the documentary, however, the couple has tried to excel on their own. While the Duke may have struck lightning in a bottle with Spare, the Duchess has yet to prove herself. The signing separately with WME all hint at an individual Meghan Markle comeback. Perhaps the media-savvy Markle did not expect a “gritters” comment worth $20 million to come her way. But knowing the Sussexes, they have their Plan B ready.
