On the latest episode of the Complex Sneakers Show, co-hosts Joe La Puma, Brendan Dunne, and Matt Welty discussed various topics, including Noah Lyles' sneaker wishes and hunting down rare footwear. The conversation turned to the Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low, with Matt Welty calling the Dorothy-style SB the most memorable of the bunch, but Brendan Dunne aptly describing it as "the cheesiest form of SB". Welty added, "It's like the least SB SB," reviewing the collaboration.
Matt Welty agreed with Dunne, noting that the collaboration belonged to an era when nobody cared about the brand. They recalled how the official Wizard of Oz partnership was released during a time when Nike was facing lawsuits and legal threats, making the partnership seem less authentic. The hosts continued crying foul over the limited-edition sneaker collaboration, dismissing its deal with the franchise as its rock bottom which is contrary to the impressive review they left for Travis Scott.

As reported by Sneaker Bar Detroit a couple of days ago, Nike SB is launching a new limited-edition Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration, this summer. This sneaker is inspired by Dorothy's poppy field scene in the classic film and features a floral textile upper with bright red accents. The Wizard of Oz branding is on the tongue tags, with Dorothy's iconic quote on the heels and graphic insoles.
The report read that the sneaker will be released during the Holiday 2024 season at select skate shops and online, with a retail price of $135. This collaboration comes as a perfect way to relish the holiday season, blending nostalgia with contemporary sneaker design. The Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low has served the movie memorabilia and sneaker culture just right. But it is only to see if it also serves the likes of critics and commentators alike.
