It is no doubt that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was quite a successful actress before her marriage to Prince Harry. She has worked in various TV shows and dramas before her big debut in the Blockbuster legal drama Suits. Even if her roles before were less significant and had only a few hours worth of screen time, Meghan Markle was sure to leave a mark on the audience. Markle starred in Suits for seven long seasons, but just before this breakthrough series, she worked in another TV show named Fringe where her role met with the same fate.

It was unfortunately cut halfway. Fringe was a 2008 sci-fi TV drama that had five seasons. Meghan Markle’s role was as a Junior FBI agent, Amy Jessup. As Screenrant reported, it was a major role but collapsed only after 2 episodes. The character appears in the second season’s premiere as Agent Jessup, a temporary addition to the fringe investigators.

Why did Meghan Markle’s character see no daylight? 

The former actress played the role of an eagle-eyed, curious, and pestering investigator, garnished by her quick wit and sharp intellect. Her Agent Jessup in merely two episodes A Day in the old town and Night of desirable objects discovered some hints and patterns in the inexplainable events that could’ve made connections of the sci-fi story with the events of the bible. However, to its misfortune, Jessup never got to share her findings. As her role was marred after that in the forthcoming episodes. 

If Markle had returned to the show, Jessup’s story would’ve continued and caused a few major changes. And those few changes could have potentially changed the focus of the entire show. However, that is exactly want caused disruption to the plans of the story. With Jessup’s discoveries, these terrorists could have emerged as zealots who awaited doomsday. Markle’s discovery would have essentially turned the sci-fi into more of a religious broadcast. 

Meghan Markle could have returned if not for her royal destination 

According to the executive producer of the show, there was a chance that Meghan Markle could’ve made a comeback soon. However, by then the duchess was already climbing the ladder to the pinnacle of her career as Rachel Zane in the legal drama, Suits.

The Duchess’s character could still make a comeback if we consider Jessup’s story continued in an alternate universe and the show gets a new season as Revival of Fringe. However, with Meghan Markle stepping back from acting there may be no chance for the continuation of agent Jessup’s story.
